4 Days Left

I’m leaving in 4 days and I’ve been so busy getting things together and packing. I can’t believe it’s so close now. I checked the weather in Seoul and it’s mild, just have to deal with a bit of rain when we arrive. To be honest it doesn’t really matter to me as long as I am there. That’s the whole reason for this trip- it was for me to go to Korea and enjoy being there.

I received my order for my Korean Won and Japanese Yen just today as well, and that is making me so freaking excited. It just further makes everything so real. I am going halfway across the world to a country that I have been dreaming of going to for years now. It’s finally becoming a reality and I want to make the most of it.

Ah, I got so many emotions going on in my head now and I just don’t know how to get it all down in words in a coherent way. I am definitely gonna bring back some souvenirs (hence why I’m packing light – I want to be able to fit everything in my luggage when I get home!)

Some things I want to bring home from Korea:

  • Kpop (duh)
  • Some clothes
  • Snacks
  • Concert merch (if there is something going on when I’m there)

Just 4 more days left. 4 more days, I have to get through work for Mon-Wed, but I know I can do it! I’ve also brushed up on my Korean so I can somewhat converse with people when I’m there.

Fighting!

Soon

In about a week and a half I’ll be flying out to Korea and Japan. I’m literally so excited that nothing much else has been on my mind. While planning the trip was stressful (flights + accommodations, money for food and souvenirs, mapping out places, etc) I think once I’m there it will be okay. I got my vacation approved at work, which was good too.

Of course I’m gonna go to places like Pledis Ent and SM Ent (the two I want to see the most) and I want to go to Myeongdong for shopping for souvenirs. This is honestly going to be so much fun. I have wanted to go to Korea for so long but I knew I had to save up first.

After I saved up enough from my current job, I was able to pay for my trip. I’m normally not the vlog-y type of person but I think for this trip I want to document as much as I can for the memories, as I am not sure when or if I’ll ever get to go back.

This is probably the big trip I’m taking for this year, I used up both weeks of vacation on this, but I think it’s gonna be totally worth it. My one wish (though I am not sure if this will happen – most likely not) is to take a selca with NCT’s Yuta. It would be the highlight of this entire trip, because I love him so much and he inspires and motivates me every day. I want to tell him what he means to me and how he’s helped me each and every day.

Of course I won’t get my hopes too high as I know he’s a very busy person and likely has schedules to attend, so I don’t think it’s likely I’ll get a pic with him. If I do, then I would never complain about anything ever again- all I need is to take a snapshot with Yuta and my entire life would be made.

Anyways, I will try to update on here often when I’m on my trip (yes, I will be bringing my laptop with me), so we’ll see how things play out

Travel

I am someone that loves to travel. I’ve been to New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Chicago, Michigan, Florida, Buffalo in the U.S, along with Paris (France), Mexico, Cuba and London (UK). This year I will be travelling to the country I’ve been dreaming of for a few years now – South Korea, and Japan (bonus).

Ever since I became interested in KPop and Korean culture, I have been dreaming of going to SK. My older brother taught there for a year teaching elementary school kids English. Though he was teaching in a more rural area, I still envied him about being able to go there.

I was determined to go to Korea after I finished school, so after I graduated I started working so that I could save up. Eventually I did save enough, and now I will be travelling to my dream country! The other good thing is that not only will I be going to Korea, but also Japan. This was actually something my younger brother wanted to do – he had gone to Japan by himself back in 2016 and loved it. So we decided we would do a big trip to Asia this year and go to both Korea and Japan.

I’ll be gone for 2 weeks pretty much, and then come back April 25. I am so excited, I honestly can’t believe this is happening. My entire family (especially parents) have been urging me to go to Korea, as they know it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Them giving me the blessing to go to another country without them makes me realize how much trust they have in me. They believe I am responsible enough to look after myself.

My parents will be in the Philippines while my brother and I venture out to the East side of Asia.

Honestly I have no idea what’s in store so I’m just gonna welcome them as they come 🙂

Heh.

Goals

You know how every year everyone has a New Years Resolution? I am no different, except I started my New Years Resolution about a month in advance. It all started after a visit to my doctor for a physical. I wanted some advice on how I could lose some weight and in general feel more happy with myself. She showed me how to select foods that were better for me, and what kinds of exercises would help me lose fat. Because I like dancing, I chose Dance Dance Revolution as a way to burn calories (and by also watching my portions). I have an xbox 360 so I hooked up a dance mat and started stomping around XD

Honestly I think it’s easy to stay motivated and stick to your goals if you pick a workout that you enjoy. Don’t like cardio and would rather weight train? Go for it! Prefer cardio? That’s good too. Of course it’s always best to consult a physician or doctor before you start any kind of fitness regime so that you know that you’re on the right track.

Update: Today I went jeans shopping to test to see if I had lost any weight (and because I needed new jeans) and was surprised to find that I was able to fit into my old size 10 /11 rather than 12 / 13 (I put on a lot of weight in my hips in the past, so naturally that part would have been bigger than the rest). This is my type of downsizing, if you get my drift. I’m hoping to slim down even more, so I’m staying motivated and dedicated to working out and eating well.

I started off at 194lbs at my heaviest, and then dropped down to 183lbs within the last month. I am truly excited to keep this going. Even my mood started to improve after I started this. Before I used to stress a lot which caused me to eat more. I also was hanging on to a friendship that was negatively impacting me. After letting go of this person, I was able to start focusing on myself and my wellbeing. I was sleeping more and even felt more energized in the morning before starting my day. I made healthier breakfast choices (instead of a bagel almost every morning) and I felt more at peace.

This year is my year.

🙂

Room Decorating

I’ve spent my weekend re arranging and decorating my room. I wanted to upgrade it from late teens – early twenties to late twenties and up. I still left a couple of my posters but for the most part I have taken those down and replaced them with string LED lights instead. Then, I completely cleaned out my desk and rearranged everything, followed by my book case / shelf. my dresser consists partly of my jewelery (the necklaces are hanging on my wall on hooks) and hair pieces (those are tucked in a drawer).

On top of my dresser is my table mirror, body lotion and lamp, along with all of my makeup in a box to organize. Beside that is my makeup remover and makeup brushes. Eventually I want to . get a vanity desk / dressing table and drape some lights around the mirror because it will help with my makeup application.

I moved my bed so that it is in the center of my room and on the left hand side is my night table with my lamp, landline phone and my electronic things. I think there are other things I want to move around and re arrange but I might do that next weekend. I think the set up right now is fine, but we will see how everything will turn out in the end.

I of course want to get more lights to put around my room to make it even more comfortable, and relaxing. I find the lights really relax me and help me clear my mind. It also gives off a “spa” type of vibe – I really like it 🙂

Writing

Writing is therapeutic for me. It’s also a way for me to get out all the ideas that are in my head. I have always been a writer, ever since I was 8 years old. I’ve always kept a notebook and pen with me everywhere in case the inspiration strikes. Eventually the pen and notebook became laptop / iPad and I continued on my creative path.

I completed my first novel about 3-4 years ago, but even up til now I am editing it, I haven’t really published it anywhere. When I re read my manuscripts I always want to change something here and there, so I don’t think I really got out of the “editing” phase for that book. My 2nd book which I completed was just done earlier this month. It’s more of a novelette, but still, it’s something I managed to do from start to finish. A lot of my stories that I write often get started but never get finished, which is a shame.

Right now I’m writing two books, and a couple of short stories / novelettes. I never knew there was a difference between a novella and a novelette until I looked it up- the main difference is the word count – novelettes are less that 17,000 words but more than 7,500 words. Novellas are longer than 17,000 words but shorter than novels (which are roughly 40,000 words and up).

I also write fanfiction and poems, songs sometimes. I write random little things that have no purpose- I do it just because I want to. Whenever there is something on my mind, I just jot it down and I instantly feel better. My inspirations for my stories come from various sources, some being:

  1. other authors (V.C Andrews, L.J Smith, Charity Parkerson)
  2. music (Evanescence, Nox Arcana, Midnight Syndicate)
  3. pictures (mostly gothic looking buildings and Victorian fashion)

I try to picture the scenes in my head before I write them down, that way I can sort of imagine how the characters are going to interact with each other, and what kind of relationship they will have. My genres are mostly gothic horror and supernatural / fantasy. I don’t normally write dramas but sometimes if I really feel like it, I’ll write out a quick short story with dramatic elements.

The ratings usually go from T – M, depending on the story. I don’t like a lot of gore but I do add some frightening scenes, and also sensuality. It’s all pretty much what a normal, mature adult would read. I am not sure if I am ever going to publish these stories, a lot of them are written simply because I want to get everything down before I lose the inspiration. Believe me, loss of inspiration / writers block is THE WORSE thing to ever happen. It’s like you want to write something, but you have no idea what to write about. Ugh.

Anyways, these are my current original works:

Things To Keep In Your Purse

You knew I was gonna write something like this, didn’t you? Well, here it is, the classic “what to keep in your purse” post. My bag is like my home that I take everywhere with me, hence why I prefer bigger bags so I can put everything IN it. The only time I use smaller bags is when I go to a relative’s house or just running errands. Anyways, without further ado, here is Mandy’s list of things to keep in your purse / bag:

  1. Wallet with emergency cash – especially if the debit machine is down – again.
  2. Small umbrella – don’t let Mother Nature pull a fast one on you.
  3. Feminine product of your choice- BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW. Also bring an extra.
  4. Phone charger / portable charger – for those 1% GET TO THA CHAGAAA moments.
  5. Hand sanitzer – I prefer not to have you sneeze in your hand and touch the bus pole tyvm…
  6. Mints / gum – No smelliness here!
  7. Hair ties / bobby pins – to tame that one strand of hair THATWILL NOT STAY PUT.
  8. A snack – or fear a very hangry Mandy. I like keeping an apple or sesame snaps on hand.
  9.  Keys
  10.  Hand lotion / chapstick – to keep dat skin / lips lookin good. PROTECT YO SELF
  11. A pen / small notebook – to give Tony the cute barista your number – or he gives you his digits. Y’all know what I mean! Also so you can scribble directions for a stranger
  12. Small medicine bottle with Advil / Aspirin – headaches are annoying.
  13. A lucky charm – I have a photo of NCT’s Yuta in my wallet yo…no regrets.
  14. Small pack of tissues – for colds, accidental spills, etc.
  15. Small hair brush – goes hand in hand with # 7
  16. Face wipes – to get rid of excess grease on your face
  17. Small make up bag – just the basics will do
  18. Your phone – this one is self explanatory
  19. Earphones – to listen to your tunes.
  20. Bandaids / polysporin – papercuts… OWIE
